If his latest goal is anything to go by, Shamrock Rovers have a player on their hands in Trevor Clarke.
The 19-year-old Republic of Ireland youth international has been tipped for a bright future by Rovers boss Stephen Bradley, who said back in March that the winger would play for the senior Boys in Green team within a few years.
Those who scoffed at Bradley’s comments might reconsider their skepticism after Clarke’s wonderstrike against Cork City last Friday evening at Turner’s Cross.
The former Middlesbrough youth scored the first goal of the game after dribbling half-way across the pitch and unleashing a thunderbolt that left Mark McNulty with no chance as it crashed in off the crossbar.
Unfortunately for Clarke, however, the goal was ultimately of no consequence as Cork rallied to win 4-1, but it will live long in the memory, nevertheless.
The Dublin native has been turning heads in the League of Ireland since joining Rovers and, if he keeps this sort of performance up, it won’t be long before foreign clubs come knocking at Tallaght.
