Waterford had a busy League of Ireland transfer deadline day, bringing in former Ireland Under-21 goalkeeper Ian McLoughlin, as well as Derek Daly, Jake Evans, Tom Smith and Kenny Browne
The goalkeeper revealed he had other options of clubs to sign for, but chose Waterford so he could play a full season of football.
“I’ve had offers in England and Scotland but the timing of this move works for me,” McLoughlin told the club’s official website.
“I’ve a chance to get a season under my belt now back home in Ireland rather than ten weeks or so which would have been the case across the water. Ultimately I want to work my way back there but I want to help Waterford realise their ambitions this season and get the club promoted.
“I’m happy to have this opportunity at Waterford this season. I’m happy to be back playing and whilst I’m a little bit behind fitness wise, I’ll hopefully hit the ground running and will do whatever I can to help Waterford get promoted.”
Jake Evans and Tom Smith both join the First Division club on loan from Swindon Town, while Derek Daly arrives from Chesterfield.
Kenny Browne is back at the club where he made his LOI bow, having spent last season at Cork City.
