Cork City must make the long trip north to Donegal for their first league game of 2017 as they take on Finn Harps in Ballybofey and Greg Bolger is expecting a difficult encounter, especially now that Harps possess the talent of Paddy McCourt in their ranks.
The former Celtic midfielder was unveiled as a Finn Harps player on Tuesday, generating plenty of excitement in Donegal and further afield, with the new season set to get under way.
Bolger previously came up against the Northern Ireland international during his time at UCD and could renew acquaintance with the 33-year-old on Friday when the teams face off.
“I have played against him and I’ve been on the end some bad results against him as well!” Bolger told reporters.
“He’s probably one of the best players I’ve played against. Obviously he’s a bit older now, but he’s going to be a serious signing for any team.
“He’s a joy to watch. When I was coming up at UCD I was watching him thinking ‘Oh my god, how good is this fella?’
“It’ll be interesting to see how he gets on, because he’s a quality player.”
Cork City get their league campaign under way against Finn Harps at Finn Park on Friday, February 24. Kick off 19:45.
